Ooooooooo.

I'm almost too scared to see this film because I liked the book so much. Sure the book got pretty sentimental at the end, but by the time I got there I was willing to forgive it anything.

OMG. OMG. OMG.

I loved the book and when I heard they were making a movie I was very sceptical. Now, having seen the preview, I can't wait to see it!! I think there has been enough time since I read the book that if they change little things I won't really notice.

I'm sure this will be in the same league as The Notebook and P.S. I Love You.

I'm going to go and re-read the book now.
one of my all time favourite love stories

Loved the book! I'll be interested to see how they handle it. It could go either way. Great cast, though - Eric Bana is delicious. :)

I can see the appeal of Eric Bana. But what's the appeal of the book for you, Rachael?

Damon - Great characters, an intriguing premise, complicated structure that works, and... I'm a sucker for all things time travel, so a literary novel with time travel at its core is a no-brainer for me! So what if it's sold a zillion copies and is considered 'middle-brow'. i loved it.

One of the great appeals of the Star Trek movie to me was the time travel aspect... and I was in hog heaven when Lost started jumping around in time... don't ask me where my obsession comes from as I couldn't tell you.

Thanks for the quick wrap-up, Rachael. And for the time-travel confession.

Which isn't a coincidence, actually. I travelled here from Regency England just to comment on your blog.

(Now where did I park my TARDIS?)

I read and enjoyed the book too, I think alot of us a suckers for that 'romantic' voice, though there were massive plot problems from memory, or more like continuity problems, which I am sure they fixed in the film, very Benjamin Button - ssque by the looks of things...also reminds me of Twilight - the love that transcends obstacles, even death/time travel/age itself....I wonder

My partner and I both loved the book and we're looking forward to the movie - but me more so than him, I think! Very rarely are movies as good as the book, I hope this will be an exception :D

Rachael -- just found this site and learned about your novel. Congratulations! Your story -- "Black Feet", I think it was called -- was always my favorite of those I was fortunate enough to publish all those years ago.

Ordering my copy of the book today. Can't wait to read it!

And just to keep my comment relevant: Loved Niffenegger's novel, and completely deflated by the movie trailer. I'm afraid they've done away with everything that I loved about the book.

Hi Jason! Nice to hear from you after all this time. My next novel is almost finished too. I have to say, the trailer looks schmaltzy, but I'm hoping that it's just the trailer - that they've focused one the Love Story aspect while the movie will keep some of the darkness of the novel.

What are you up to these days? How's the writing?

Even though the insane slowness of my wireless connection right now is making the video not appear, I'm deducing that you're talking about Time Traveler's Wife! I too loved the book, and I like the cast, but I'm VERRRRRY skeptical! The trailer looks so Hollywood to me. That doesn't necessarily mean the movie will be, but I suspect so. I think I might still like it, but the tone feels off to me. Oh well. I have higher hopes for the The Lovely Bones, since that's Peter Jackson. I didn't love that book as much, though I did like it.

Oh, and the way he vanishes looks completely lame. Like, he's being erased by a big eraser. Whatever.
